Steven Chong is currently the Managing Partner and Chief Executive of UHY in Malaysia.
Steven is an immediate past elected Council Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) Council. He is the founding Chair of the MIA Digital Technology Implementation Committee that works with key figures and various organisations from Accounting Technology, Public Practice, Academia, Professional Accountants in Business, and the Public Sector to bring awareness, impact and transformation to the Malaysian accounting industry. During his Council tenure with the Institute, he served across various committees and Board, being the MIA Disciplinary Committee, the Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (AASB), Young Professionals Committee, and the Financial Statements Review Committee.
Prior to assuming his current role with the Firm, his responsibilities included the Assurance department's compliance and quality control function, acted in the capacity of Engagement Partner and Engagement Quality Control Reviewer (EQCR) for audits of 13 publicly listed companies on the Malaysian stock exchange (Bursa Malaysia), he was the International Contact Partner (ICP) for UHY Malaysia, member of UHY International's Business Development and Marketing Working Group (BDMWG), member of the Members' Quality Working Group (MQWG) that reports to the Board in its mandate of overseeing the network's quality compliance and development work, and was the Qualified Person Responsible for Training (QPRT) of the Firm, pursuant to UHY Malaysia's Authorised Training Employer status with the ICAEW (UK).
Steven holds an MBA specialising in Finance and is an alumni of F-TEN® Asia (Financial Talent Executive Network Asia) of the ICAEW, UK.
